Month got away from me

November 30th, 2008

So it is now Post-Thanksgiving and I have not added a new blog post in a while.  The month just got away from me.  I have got hit with a couple of extra last minute projects that just ate up the time.

Of course, I love booking new projects so I am not complaining. ; >

Sometime in Dec, I will add the top weddings from 2008.  And then in Jan, the wedding shows start up again.  Boy, time does fly when you are having fun.

I have added some of the social networking stuff that I am on (twitter, facebook, etc) so my clients and future clients can keep up to date on the latest happens.

First wedding of 2008: Olivia and Jon

November 17th, 2008

Yesterday I posted the final wedding of the 2008 season so today I will post the first one. The Cain wedding held on April 5 2008 was a great way to start out the year.  The groom’s family have been friends of our since we first moved to Southern Colorado.  The groom’s father, Roger -a Huerfano County Commissioner- has a 5000 acre ranch and every spring I go out and photograph the branding of the calves.  I love photography cowboys in action and few things are more exciting than a branding.  One year I got a amazing image of Jon on his horse roping a calf.

So once Olivia - I had never met her at this point- saw this photo, she said that I was the one to photograph their wedding.  That meant a lot to me and I was very excited because I knew it was going to be a HUGE wedding.

The wedding day and location moved around a bit.  Well a lot.  The actual contract said Ft Collins in March.  But that was just the beginning. From there it moved to Estes Park at the Stanley Hotel, then I think somewhere in Denver and we ended up at the Pinery in Black Forest.  At the north end of Colorado Springs.

The Pinery is a beautiful all in one indoor and outdoor facility so you can plan a wedding for any time of year.  They have a very good in-house photographer and I had never done a wedding there before so I was excited to shoot there.

They ended up having it all indoors just in case the weather was bad.

Because the weather was actually really nice that day, we did a lot of stuff outside too.

This was a huge wedding and we were there over 9 hours total and got over a thousand images. I wont post them all here, but I do have to post a photo of the groom’s father and my friend Roger.

Roger is a great guy, and a part of the revitalization of Huerfano County.

And here is his lovely wife, Laurie dancing with her son.

Now I am off to meet with a 2009 bride but I will post some more weddings later.

Oct 18th weddings

November 16th, 2008

So we ended our 2008 wedding season on a great note.  My wife and I had the pleasure of photographing Stephanie and Josh’s wedding right here in our town of Pueblo.  Josh is the sales manager at the Convention Center here (they are a great client) so the reception was there and the ceremony was at a beautiful church in downtown.

We then went across the street to the Pueblo County Court House to do all of the wedding party photos.

Here is one of my favs.

He looks tough, but he is really a nice guy ; >

So while all of this was going on, we had booked another wedding…. in Lamar.

For those of you who are not familiar with Lamar, it is about 100 plus miles east of Pueblo on Hwy 50, along the scenic Arkansas River.  Being a  part time farmer myself, I love the farms and ranches out there.  I had met the bride, Amy, about a year or so ago.  She was a model at a photography workshop that I was giving out there and said she would call me when she got married…. Well a few months ago I get the call that her man, Brandon has popped the questions.  The only bad news was that most of Oct was already booked for me.  Which is a bit strange for us to have booked so many weddings so late in the year.

Anyway, my main assistant, the very talented Erika, got the short straw and had to do the 4 hour plus trip out there.

Of course she did a great job as usual.

Here is the happy bride and her new hubby.

Over the next few days I will be adding some of my fav weddings from 2008.

2009 is already packed.

April, June, July are all getting full or already totally gone.  And the bridal shows are still a few months away.

2009 is going to be a great year so book soon!

New suite

November 16th, 2008

I haven’t had the time in the last month to add the posts to this post that I have wanted to.  Most of that is because I have been in the middle of moving two flights of stairs to the second floor.  We are now in suite 219.  Same building , The Federal Building, 421 North Main Street.

So now that I am pretty much settled in, I will be adding more to this blog soon.  Really!  I mean it. ; >

2008 Wedding season is over ….

October 19th, 2008

Well you never know, we could still get a last minute NOV or DEC wedding but for the most part I think the season is over. Last night we did our final booked wedding at the First United Methodist church right here in downtown Pueblo.  Stephanie and Josh were a great finale. I should have some of their photos up in a few days and the I am going to recap the highlights of 2008 soon too.

Now while I take a couple of weekends off for a well earned break from a busy wedding season, we are already looking to 2009 and beyond. And summer 2009 is already pretty booked up so that is a good sign that we are going to have yet another great year.  My guess is that by the time the Jan bridal expos come around 2009 will be totally booked.

October 13th, 2008

I just added this blog and over the next few weeks I want to start using this as a way to showcase some of our latest weddings.  I think this is a great way to show both our clients and future clients a little bit more about us.
